Dear Parents,
Although it was a short week, the children were busy learning about the letter 'Mm.' We colored and worked on many activities for the letter "Mm" and the sound. The children made a monster out of the letter ‘Mm’ for the letter book. Other projects they worked on were a mouse, and a monkey to tie in with the letter “Mm.” In addition to this, we read the Big Green Monster and then the children put together their own big, green monsters; they added yellow eyes, a blue nose, purple hair, and a big red mouth, with sharp white teeth. Next week we will be on the letter 'Kk,' as in kangaroo, key, kitten, and koala. Please have your child bring in a small item with this sound. Also, please complete and return the attached homework. On Thursday, October 31st we will have the Halloween Festival. Your child can wear his or her costume to school in the morning. Please remember, no masks, weapons, clown costumes or violent themes, also, no high heels, only tennis shoes may be worn. I would also like to remind you to check SchoolSpeak to sign up for items that are needed. This is a great way to earn service hours. The parade will begin at 10:30am and you are invited to attend. After the parade, the children will return to the classroom. At this time, you may come sign your child out and take them around to the different booths. Please remember that your child must be supervised at all times during the Festival. There will be food available, so please come enjoy and spend the day with your child. The Parish is having their Festival this weekend also, as you can see in the parking lot, the rides have arrived. There will also be food from different cultures for you to enjoy. This week we were on the letter (Bb). The children printed, colored, and matched the letter (Bb) sound on the many activities that we worked on throughout the week. We also made the letter "Bb" for the alphabet book. We will be working on this book throughout the school year. In addition, the children have made ghosts, bats, and witches, that now decorate the middle room of our classroom. Our big board looks very nice as well, with the many fall decorations the child have made, including their scarecrows, fall leaves, and pumpkins, which they painted. The children have also been enjoying playing outside in the grass area. They are free to run around without, fear of getting scraped knees. Our third grade teacher, Miss. Redden, came over to read the class a couple of books. She also brought her class over to lead the Preschool in a Jog-a-Thon, practice run. The children have been practicing the route for the big run. Next week we will be on the letter "Mm," as in monkey, mouse, and money. Please have your child bring in a small item with this sound. To reinforce this, they then traced the letter “Ff,” making a firefighter. They will be working on an alphabet book throughout the school year. The children have also started their letter books. We have and will continue to learn Halloween songs. The children really enjoy singing, and are enjoying learning the Halloween songs. This week we were busy with the diamond shape. We finished our colorful fruit theme, and it now decorates the classroom. I sent home the shape and color book your child has been working on for the past six weeks. If your child has mastered the shape and color, it will be filled in. If your child has not yet mastered the shape and color, it was left blank. Please continue reviewing and working with your child, on these skills. The class has also been learning about the five senses, and has been working on a book about their five senses. If your child was able to tell me the correct answer for each sense, the blank space is filled in, meaning that your child has mastered this task. On Friday, the school had the blessing of the animals, the children were excited to see all the animals. We also spoke about how God created everything on Earth, and how He gave us animals to make us happy. We also talked about how important it is to be kind to them.
