Dear Parents,
This week the children colored the orange oval shapes to add to their shape book. They also tore up construction paper, and made an orange pumpkin to emphasize the color orange. In addition to this, we worked on the sense of smell. We smelled perfume, pepper, coffee, cinnamon, baby powder, and garlic power. Next week we will cover our last color and shape. We will be working on the color purple and the diamond shape. Please have your child bring in a small purple item for the language chain. We will also be reviewing the five senses that God gave us. We will be have a family mass on Sunday, the 29th at 9:00am. Please join us as a school family. Sheets and towels went home on Thursday. Please return them on Monday ready for rest time. The Blessing of the animals is on Friday, October 4th at 12:00pm. You are all invited to bring your pets. Dogs must be on a leash, other animals must be in cages or carriers. No animals will be allowed into the classroom. Reminder: Monday: Purple item, return sheet. and towel Friday: Blessing of the animals Dismissal at 12:30 Thank you Mrs. Redden Dear Parents,
This week the children worked on coloring green rectangles. We also talked about the sense of taste. We tasted lemons for sour, candy for sweet, pickles for bitter, and pretzels for salty. The expressions on their faces were priceless, especially with the sour lemons. The children have been learning a new song for the color green, it's called "Five Green Speckled Frogs," we sing it along with a felt board that coincides with the song. Thank you for your support for Mrs. Holcomb, please keep her in your prayers. Next week we will be on the color orange and the oval shape, please have your child bring in a small orange item for the language chain. We will also be on the sense of smell. Since some of the children are getting runny noses, and coughs, I sent home the sheets and towels again this week. Please return them on Monday for rest time. Reminder: Monday: Orange item, Homework, Sheets and towels Friday: Dismissal 12:30pm Thank you, Mrs. Redden Dear Parents,
This week the children cut yellow triangles for their shape book. We also talked about the sense of touch, and the children had the opportunity to play with play-dough and moon sand, this helped them feel the soft and squishy textures. The children painted plates yellow to make suns, and then added faces. In addition, the outside of the plates are cut into triangles, to tie into the triangle shape. I was able to bring out the water table this week, and the preschool was able to partake in fun activities, such as fishing. They spent their morning play time catching whales, sharks, goldfish, and even some blowfish. They really enjoyed this activity! Next week we will be on the rectangle shape. We will also be on the color green. Please have your child bring in something green. In addition to this, we will talk about the sense of taste. The homework is attached, please have your child color it the frog in with the color green. Reminder: Monday: Bring in green Item Friday: Dismissal 12:40 Thank you, Ms. Redden Dear Parents,
This week the children were busy with the color blue and the square shape. The children cut out blue squares for their shape book. We have also added blueberries for our fruit themed colors. In addition, we colored big ears, then attached them to a headband and talked about things we could hear with our ears. We then listened to different sounds with our eyes closed, to try and guess if we could guess what the different sounds were just by listening. Many of the activities we do are listening activities; this is done through songs, books, tapes, and CDs. Children learn by repetition, and they already have certain books and songs that they ask for daily. Next week we will be on the color yellow, the shape will be triangle, and we will go over the sense of touch. Homework is attached to the hard copy of the Friday letter. Also, please have your child bring in something yellow on Monday. Sheets and towels went home on Thursday, please return them on Monday so they will be ready for rest time. I would also like to thank you for filling out the many forms that were sent home yesterday. All the forms were turned in, and the class was awarded ice cream. It was much appreciated in our summer weather. Reminder: Monday: Yellow item/ Return Sheets and Towels Thank you, Ms. Redden |
